When the Outcome is Uncertain / Giveaway

It’s hard to know how things will work out in life.

As we endure through the trials we face, many of the obstacles we encounter are completely out of our control.

Those are the moments we learn to let go and trust God the most.

They also tend to be the best times for our prayer life because we find ourselves desperate for His intervention.

While prayer helps us find peace in the midst of uncertainty and gives us guidance on our path – God also reminds us to think about the right stuff…

Philippians 4:8 

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,

whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—

if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Guard Our Thoughts:

  • True – Meditate on God’s truth, not lies of the enemy that cause doubt and fear.
  • Noble – Character always counts.
  • Right – Distractions often tempt us off the path God has us on.  We need to stay the course with God even when we don’t understand.
  • Pure – Avoid the tendency to become jaded.
  • Lovely – Let the beauty of His promises captivate your mind with sweet thoughts.
  • Admirable – Focus on the exquisite plans and purposes God has.
  • Excellent – Don’t settle for the status quo.
  • Praise Worthy – Acknowledge and celebrate all the baby steps along the way!

  1. Yes!!!!! I needed this! What a great reminder, my friend!!! I am going to save this and print it out to remind me to guard my thoughts and focus on what He calls me to think about. P.S.–I got cold chills when I read you are giving 50% of your proceeds back to Dream Center. God is so good. And you shine Him thru!!

    It’s uncanny how God works when He wants you to get a message from Him. My mentor and friend and I were talking yesterday about this very scripture. When the enemy wants to get a foothold and have our minds go down a negative path…we need to consciously steer our minds to what is true, pure, noble, right, etc. This was great confirmation of what God was wanting me to know. Thanks for a very helpful and timely post!!

  7. Oh, I love a give away. This was a good post, one I am going to copy some of and use when I teach next Sunday. I needed to read this today because I lost sleep last night thinking about anything but lovely things or the promises of God. Great reminders.

  12. Great post, Danise! The verse in Philippians is one of my favorite. I love the way you broke it down and highlighted ways go guard our thoughts for each part. Congrats on the book too. Exciting!

  13. The definitions you shared give such emphasis to this scripture! I have to process through them at times when I am tempted to think opposing thoughts. When the enemy comes in to distract, disappoint, and steal away the good things… or comparison robs us of the joy that is ours in His presence, I have to literally recount the words here in Philippians 4:6-7 and list out the good, the true and the honorable in the situation. Even though it is just a fleeting moment and His presence is near in a twinkling, even still I have to think about it. I will ponder the words you defined in a new light today, Thank you!
