Valentine’s Day: Real Life and the Pinterest Board

Sometimes our real life Valentine’s Day doesn’t measure up to the Pinterest board version.

This week, millions of women will swoon at the thought of the perfect date with the perfect Valentine.

Millions of others will pray for the strength to endure the day, wishing the holiday never existed.

Meanwhile, others will be nursing the wounds of a recent loss or break up and refuse to acknowledge the day all together.

Busy moms will rush out to make that last minute purchase so that their little ones can pass cards and candies to classmates; only to be standing in line at the grocery store thinking, “Oh no!  I forgot a card for the hubs!”  {I may or may not be speaking from experience on this one}

Valentine sweethearts will wait hours in crowded restaurants to order a meal off of a very limited “Valentine’s Day Special Menu” pretending to have a good time, when in reality they can’t even hear eachother speak.

Real life doesn’t always look as perfect as a Pinterest board.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Pinterest.

I’ve had some amazing real life moments that actually looked better than a Pinterest board and other real life moments that didn’t.

The point is to live life… the real, sometimes messy, completely imperfect life we have.

No matter what your real life situation is this Valentine’s Day my hope is that you will know that you are LOVED!  Unconditionally, with deep compassion God loves you!

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” – Jeremiah 31:3

Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. I am trying to walk in God’s love more each day. I thank you for the encouragement/reminder that God loves us regardless of who else does/doesn’t. Thanks.
