Remembering the Gifts of Grace

Ephesians 1:7-8  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding”

God lavishes” (to bestow in generous or extravagant quantities) His rich grace on us.  How different would my day look if I truly lived with understanding that God generously gives me extravagant quantities of His favor?   I need to stop and take that in for a minute.  Living a God-Fulfilled life is a journey filled with daily reminders of the gifts of God’s grace.

God’s grace covers us with forgiveness: “…we have redemption through His blood, forgiveness of sins…”  We all equally stand on the common ground of humanity and are in need of God’s forgiveness daily.  Sometimes we find ourselves filled with regret because of our mistakes.  Regret is the internal sting of sin.  The weight of regret can create a barrier between us and God that He never intended for us have.  Through His grace and the precious blood of Jesus, He has torn down every wall that sin has tried to build.  God’s forgiveness liberates our soul and gives us a fresh start, every time we need one.

God’s grace gives us unlimited wisdom and understanding:  “…God’s grace that He lavished on us.  With all wisdom and understanding”  With God’s help, we can reach unknown realms of possibility in life.  God’s definition of a full life is so much more substantial than our limited perspectives would allow us to see.  Thankfully, we don’t have to try and figure it all out on our own. God is with us, and He teaches us to live the life He promised.

I pray that your week is Fulfilled with God’s extravagant grace over you.

  1. You are so right. Regret will build a barrier between us and God. It is only when we truly accept God’s grace and forgiveness that we can break the power of regret over us.

  2. Dear Danise … thank you for so tenderly reaching out to me this week. Your sensitive kindness brought me such a warm consolation as we say goodbye to little Tyler.

Hugs and blessings to you …

  3. Oh, the devil uses regret like a finely sharpened tool to cut away at our confidence in our Savior! I’m so glad we have Jesus, who suffered in every way, to give us strength to resist the devil’s influence and live abundantly free!

  4. Danise, as your neighbor over at Holley’s today, I was especially drawn to your post as we both chose to write about grace/forgiveness this week. :-)
These words jumped off the page…”How different would my day look if I truly lived with understanding that God generously gives me extravagant quantities of His favor? ” Such a good question to ponder and very much akin to the idea that we should “live like we’re loved”.
I’m so glad I stopped in Danise (and as one who spells her name differently, I really like the spelling of your name). Very thought-provoking post.

  5. Yes!!!! But a thought that comes to mind is: only because we are covered with God’s grace and forgiveness; it doesn’t make it right to do it.
If we know it is wrong, don’t do it and take advantage of the situation.

  6. “Living a God-Fulfilled life is a journey filled with daily reminders of the gifts of God’s grace.” ~ Amen. He’s so good at offering those reminders–when we look for them, we always find them. :) Thanks for sharing, Denise. Blessed to be neighboring you at the Dance for Jesus linkup today. ((blessings))

  7. Hey Danise,

I came over this morning on Blessings Counter, and I’m glad to find your post.

And, don’t you love the word GRACE! I love knowing that we serve a God who so lavishes us with His grace!

    Thanks for the wonderful reminder.

Hope you have a blessed weekend~
    Melanie
