This week’s faith devotion: Prayer {week two}

searchmyheart

As I sit at my desk, looking out the window in my office, the view of green trees and mountains gives me a sense of home.  The comfort I feel deep inside doesn’t come from physical surroundings; it’s God’s love.

It’s only because of His grace and mercy that I have the courage to pray….

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting.”

- Psalm 139: 23-24

I know when God searches my heart He will probably find some stuff that shouldn’t be there but I feel safe with Him.  I can trust Him to help me get rid of the stuff I don’t need.

God knows me so well; not just the stuff that I wish He didn’t see.  He knows all the good stuff too… all the plans and promises He has in store for me.  When I take the time to let God do a little searching in my heart, it also gives Him the chance to give me some reminders of all the awesome blessings He wants me to have.

Here’s a few of God’s blessings and promises to help you through your week:

  • No matter what you are going through He never leaves you

  • Though you walk through raging waters they will not overtake you

  • He gives you victory in Christ

  • All things become possible when you believe in God through Christ Jesus

  • He blesses you abundantly so that in all things, at all times having all you need you will abound in every good work

  • He turns your weakness into strength and your darkness into light

  • He commands his angels to guard and protect you

  • He guides you with wisdom

  • He sets you free with his truth

  • When the Son of God sets you free you are free indeed

  1. When the Son of God sets you free you are free indeed. Is such a tremendous truth to hold onto daily because God is always with us no matter what helping us strive towards all that he has for us. So thank you for this Great reminder of who’s hands my hearts desires are in this morning.

  2. What a great encouragement to be vulnerable before Christ! As hard as we try, I think sometimes it can sound so ‘scary,’ but your post describes such a peaceful, loving, tender encounter with Christ. And I think that’s the mindset we SHOULD have… but it’s not how we always approach it (let’s be honest). So, as Venice said before, thank you so much for a GREAT reminder of the character of the man who has my heart and desires in His hands.

  3. On a day when I am feeling frustrated at myself for “pulling back” from God, this is an encouragement to just turn around and run back to His feet. Thank you!

  4. WOW! Thank you so much, Danise, for this word of encouragement today! What wonderful reminders of God’s love. “He sets you free with his truth”, SO GOOD!

  5. Thank you for your blog, it is so inspiring especially when my hope begins to waiver. Your list of God’s promises and blessings renews my faith.

  6. I love your list of God’s blessings and promises. I will remember them as I fall asleep in a few minutes. Thanks so much.

Your giveaway is an original one!! Thanks!!

  7. So grateful to have been reminded of this >>> “Though you walk through raging waters they will not overtake you.” God has been showing me this truth in varied ways the last few days. He has overcome so that we will not be overcome, no matter what life throws at us. I’m visiting from Unite this morning & I think this is my 1st time here so, “nice to meet you!” Blessings!

  8. Love the gift card idea – who doesn’t like a gift card, right? And I always like having a list of things to be grateful for. God’s blessings are all around us. Sometimes, when we are too busy, or not looking hard enough, we can miss them.

  9. Hi Danise! I love the point you made about making my weaknesses a strength. How I need that! I have so many weaknesses it’s not funny. Ugh. But how well he knows me! I can’t wait to be stronger, a better servant of his.

Love me some Starbucks. It’s such a treat. Great idea for a give-away!

  10. “It’s only because of His grace and mercy that I have the courage to pray….” Yes. I love this reminder that we are SAFE to let him search our hearts. A beautiful truth. Thank you.
