Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today

Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart is good medicine”

When life tries to get us down, sometimes looking to put a smile on someone else’s face is just the medicine we both need.

Having a cheerful heart isn’t only good medicine for us personally, but also for those around us.

When our heart doesn’t feel like smiling our human tendency is to look inward at our own personal situation.  Instead, that’s when we should pay closer attention to those around us and ask God to help us make someone else’s heart smile.

Everyone knows that a smile is contagious.  When we spread smiles around, even when we don’t feel like it, we soon discover a cheerful heart is just the medicine we needed too.   Be the reason someone smiles today!

Have a blessed week, filled with smiles! :)

  1. Love your words, Danise … ’cause there’s always another soul who’s in a more difficult place than we are. We don’t have far to look … and it does us both good when we choose to reach out.

Wonderful, gentle reminder, a needed invitation.

    Hugs to you today!

  2. A little smile can make a big difference for someone who may be feeling lonely or unloved.

Thank you, Danise for reminding us of the little things that make life a better for others and for ourselves.

  3. It’s true when we look outside ourselves to others and share a smile, it not only cheers them but brings a smile to our own hearts, too. Thank you for reminding us to smile! It really is contagious!

  4. thats soo true!
I just spent more than an 1hr in traffic to a 35mins route, then another 1hr looking for parking at campus…. Frustrated… Missing one class… It was hard to be happy. At the end of my morning… I new the person I encountered needed that laugh more than my frustration!! And you know what..?? It made all my morning worth it!

    1. Awe… I love this story… traffic can steal the joy of our morning and day so quickly… good for you that you turned it around and made someone else smile and laugh! Blessings to you Adriana!

  5. Your right! It definitely makes you feel better when you choose to smile instead of frown. I have also found that being around a young grandchild will have you laughing in no time. There is no rhyme or reason to what makes my grandson laugh and act goofy sometimes. But we have fun doing it.

  6. A great reminder! Many are fighting battles that are covered by smiles and masks. May we remember we can make someone’s day by a smile, a kind word, or encouragement.

Just yesterday, we found out that one of our college students, was struggling financially, and had no food for her children. Yet, she always has a smile on her face and works really hard to be successful in her classes.

We just never know, do we??

    1. Hi Piper, Yes. We really never know until we care enough to find out. A smile, encouragement and a kind word can sometimes be the beginning of deeper ministry. Blessings to you!

  7. “When our heart doesn’t feel like smiling our human tendency is to look inward at our own personal situation.” So true. I battle this one. Heard the Holy Spirit whisper “Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” one day. Knew it from the Word, but the whisper made it clear. I think a smile likely links arm in arm with praise. Smile away. (Love the gorgeous graphics I’m seeing from you lately as well. Mind me asking if you’re handing those or if someone else is helping?)

    1. Hi Kristi! I agree! This is a hard one for us all… and I also agree that a smile links arm in arm with praise! Great point! :)
About the graphics… Currently, a very generous, talented Christian graphic artist is creating these graphics for me. At this point this person isn’t looking for more work… but I will be happy to pass on the information if that changes. :) Blessings to you!
